Attorney Amy Griggs founded Tysons Trial Law in the summer of 2023. Amy celebrated 20 years of practicing in civil litigation by creating a law firm in the modern, tech-savvy, client-centered mold she envisioned because she wanted clients to feel empowered during the process.

During Amy’s first year of law school at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, she was introduced to the world of medical malpractice in the way everyone dreads. A close family member received negligent medical treatment in Virginia. Amy guided her family through the process of locating and hiring medical malpractice lawyers. After that, Amy gained personal insight into the stress and strain that litigation imposes on families.

Amy learned first-hand about the mental, physical, and financial impacts of lawsuits on families. Tysons Trial Law brings a unique perspective for clients and represents clients with empathy and skill.

After graduation, Amy worked as a medical malpractice defense lawyer in Harrisonburg, VA. Learning how insurance companies, medical teams, and risk managers approach medical malpractice litigation was an important stage in her career. Amy is better able to advise clients as a result of her time in defense work.

Since 2007, Amy Griggs has represented plaintiffs in catastrophic injury and medical malpractice cases in Virginia and Washington, DC. Amy has obtained significant settlements and verdicts for injured victims in the Washington, DC metro area. These client outcomes include a $10 million settlement in a product liability case against a car manufacturer, a $10 million settlement in a premises liability action for an injured child, and a $7.5 million settlement for a paraplegia injury in a premises liability action. Most recently, Amy obtained a settlement exceeding $1.9 million for a child in a medical malpractice case.

In 2023, Amy was named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers list. Since 2022, Amy has been awarded by Best Lawyers for Personal Injury Litigation, Medical Malpractice Law, and Product Liability Litigation for Washington, DC. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Washington, DC Super Lawyer since 2014. She was honored by Virginia Lawyers Weekly in 2020 as an Influential Women of Law and was named to the 2021 class of “Leaders in the Law.”

Amy is the Treasurer for the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the pre-eminent organization for Virginia litigation attorneys.
